Context | Afro Arab Youth Council (AAYC) was formed in 2004 at the conclusion of the first ever African and Arab Youth Festival held in Khartoum, Sudan as per the Khartoum Declaration. Its headquarters shifted to Kampala in 2008 at the conclusion of the second similar festival in which the youth gathered in Munyonyo decided to construct a permanent home as secretariate for the AAYC in Uganda as per the Kampala communique. The AAYC aims to use practical approaches to deal with youth pressing issues and provide realistic solutions which corelate with the current times. It is therefore an advocacy/lobby group for youth with membership of over 50 countries of the Africana and Arab world including African Union, Arab League and other International bodies.

Position Objective | Provide organizations with guidance on financial accuracy, internal controls, and regulatory compliance. Examine and improve operating practices, and financial and risk management processes of the organization.

Duties (50%) | Provide independent assurance that AAYC governance and internal control processes are operating effectively.
Perform all assigned audit at financial, operational and administrative processes and systems of the organization. Ensure that the organization is complying with relevant laws and statutes both local and international. Ensure complete, accurate and timely audit information is reported to the Secretary General. Maintaining a data base of all communication and evidence regarding the audit follow up activities and actions taken. Ensure tracking the value of assets for the organization and protect them against fraud and theft. Conduct adhoc investigations into identified or reported risks. Preparing and reviewing internal audit manual. Supervision of staff of internal audit department. Overall supervision of planned annual audits. Providing relevant information and reports to the Executive committee at the request of the Secretary General. |

Three years of work experience in an internal audit department/office.
Good accounting skills. Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail with the ability to multi-task. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent documentation, communication and IT skills.

Academic Qualifications and Experience | Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Audit related field.
Accreditation with the Institute of Internal Auditors. Professional courses in Internal Auditing Knowledge on functioning of International NGOs
