Statement on Sudan

Afro-Arab Youth Council Condemns the Acts of Genocide in Sudan and Calls for Urgent International Action.

The Afro-Arab Youth Council is following with deep concern the alarming escalation and acts of violence in the brotherly Republic of Sudan, which amount to genocide committed by the warring parties against civilians in El-Fasher and other regions.
These atrocities include brutal killings, forced displacement, and systematic violations of human rights, constituting a blatant breach of international humanitarian law and all human values.

The Council strongly condemns these heinous crimes - particularly the targeted
attacks against civilians in El-Fasher - and expresses grave concern over the findings of the United Nations Security Council, which identified the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) as being responsible for grave violations and atrocities amounting to war
crimes and crimes against humanity.

The Afro-Arab Youth Council calls on the RSF to immediately cease all hostilities, protect civilians, and allow unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance to
affected populations in El-Fasher and across Sudan.

The Council reaffirms its full solidarity with the Sudanese people in their ordeal and their legitimate right to security, peace, and human dignity. It calls for urgent and effective action by the African Union, the League of Arab States, and the international
community as a whole to put an end to this humanitarian tragedy, ensure the protection of civilians, and hold all those responsible accountable before international
justice.

The Council welcomes the position expressed by the United Nations Security Council calling for an immediate ceasefire and guaranteeing the delivery of humanitarian aid to all those affected. However, the Afro-Arab Youth Council believes that the
magnitude of the crimes committed requires stronger and more concrete measures to prevent the continued suffering of civilians and to restore peace and stability in Sudan.

The Council also emphasizes the principle of respect for Sudan's sovereignty and territorial integrity and rejects any interference in its internal affairs, reaffirming that the solution must be Sudanese-led, based on comprehensive national dialogue and reconciliation among all components of Sudanese society.

The Council expresses its deep appreciation for the courage of Sudanese youth who are facing these difficult circumstances with steadfast determination, urging them to uphold national unity, reject violence and hatred, and work towards a future built on
peace, justice, and equal citizenship.

The Afro-Arab Youth Council reiterates its unwavering commitment to supporting the
causes of Sudanese youth and to working with the Sudanese Youth Council and all regional and international partners to promote peace and sustainable development in Sudan and across the African continent.
