Context | Afro Arab Youth Council (AAYC) was formed in 2004 at the conclusion of the first ever African and Arab Youth Festival held in Khartoum, Sudan as per the Khartoum Declaration. Its headquarters shifted to Kampala in 2008 at the conclusion of the second similar festival in which the youth gathered in Munyonyo decided to construct a permanent home as secretariate for the AAYC in Uganda as per the Kampala communique. The AAYC aims to use practical approaches to deal with youth pressing issues and provide realistic solutions which corelate with the current times. It is therefore an advocacy/lobby group for youth with membership of over 50 countries of the Africana and Arab world including African Union, Arab League and other international bodies.

Position Objective | The Human Resource Officer’s responsibilities include processing employee data, updating company policies and assisting in the hiring process. As the Human Resource Manager’s direct assistant, The Human Resource Officer is in charge of ensuring that the administration of the Organization is running smoothly and all the administration aspects of the Human Resource function are effective.

Duties (50%) | Maintaining physical and digital personnel records like employment contracts and other staff requests
Update internal databases with new hire information Create and distribute guidelines and FAQ documents about company policies Gather payroll data like bank accounts and working days Publish and remove job ads Schedule job interviews and contact candidates as needed Prepare reports and presentations on HR-related metrics like total number of hires by department Develop training and onboarding material Respond to employees’ questions about benefits (for example, number of vacation days they’re eligible for)

Work experience as an HR & Admin Officer, HR Administrative Assistant or similar roleFamiliarity with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
Basic knowledge of labour legislation Experience using spreadsheets Organizational skills Good verbal and written communication skills |

Academic Qualifications and Experience | Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource, Community psychology, or equivalent higher education qualification, in a relevant field.
Strong attention to detail, strong analytical and organizational skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs Knowledge on functioning of International NGOs.
