The Afro Arab Youth Council (AAYC) was established in 2004 at the close of the International Youth Festivals for African and Arab Youth in Khartoum, held under the auspices of the National Federation of Sudanese Youth with support from the Government of Sudan. This historic event laid the foundation for a council dedicated to the ideals of peace, cooperation, and development across Africa and the Arab world. In 2005, an Executive Committee was created to shape AAYC’s vision, legal framework, and alignment with both the African Union and the Arab League. Supported by governments including Sudan, Libya, and Uganda, AAYC grew its membership to encompass National Youth Councils, youth-led NGOs, and Political Party Youth Leagues across Africa and the Arab regions. In 2008, during the landmark 2nd Afro-Arab Youth Festival in Kampala, AAYC headquarters was relocated to Uganda, with H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni donating land for the construction of AAYC’s International Headquarters in Kampala. Member country presidents also pledged financial support to strengthen AAYC’s presence and its mission. Today, AAYC remains committed to empowering youth as leaders of positive change across the African and Arab regions, advancing unity and sustainable development.
