AAYC Advances to Advocate for Workers’ Rights as it Celebrates Labour Day in Egypt.

As the world celebrates Labour Day, the Afro Arab Youth Council (AAYC) has joined the recognition of hard work, resilience, and dedication of workers across Africa and the Arab region by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Egyptian Youth Workers' Federation.

For AAYC, this year’s celebration comes with something extra special, as it marks an important step in strengthening international cooperation for the benefit of workers.

On 30th April 2026 while in Egypt, the Secretary General, Hon. Dr. Abbas Agaba, together with his deputy Amina Hilmi, represented the council in signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) while Dr. Abdel Aziz Samir represented the Egyptian Youth Workers' Federation. This partnership officially opens a new chapter of collaboration focused on promoting and protecting workers’ rights, especially for young people.

Through this partnership, both organisations have committed to working together on practical programmes that will empower the youth. These will include skills development, training, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at improving employment opportunities. At the same time, they will jointly engage governments across Africa and the Arab region to push for stronger policies that support workers and improve their livelihoods.

Some of the key issues being prioritised include fair wages, timely payment, job security, and increased investment in job creation. The partnership also aims to ensure that workers’ voices are not only heard but also considered in decision-making processes.

As AAYC marks this important day, it congratulates all workers whose daily efforts continue to drive growth and development in our societies. This partnership is a clear sign of commitment towards building a future where every worker especially the youth is valued, protected, and given the opportunity to thrive.
