On the Occasion of Ramadhan, the Council took a decision to carry out an Iftar Campaign in five areas of Uganda to enable the less privileged brothers and sisters to break their fast in the month of Ramadhan by providing them Iftar support .
Together with the Hon Minister of Gender, Labor and Social Development Betty Among, the Council started the program with the people of Kamdini- Oyam District on the 9th April, 2023.
Afro Arab Youth Council, hosted the Muslim community and its leaders who are observing the holy month of Ramadan to an Iftar dinner that happened on 9th April 2023 to break their fast at Monawar Mosque in Oyam District. The annual observance of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam.
This years’s Ramadan Iftar, the team from AAYC traveled to Oyam and Busia districts to have a special feel with the community.
In Oyam district we were hosted by the area member of parliament, Hon.Betty Among who welcomed us at her well spacious Hotel the Northern Gateway Hotel. While at the hostel the president and Hon.Abbas had a disclosed meeting on what the Afro Arab Youth Council, can bring to the people of Oyam in terms of equipping skills among women..
Later, the team headed for prayers at Monawar Mosque where we meet approximately 200 people who had come to break the fast. The guests and the community members were thrilled to have this special event.
While at the Event the district Khadi requested the Member of parliament for a provision of a vehicle to be given to him as way of ease his moments to go do his work and the president of the Afro Arab Youth Council, tasked the minister to organise 1000 women to get training so as they can be equipped in different skills.
Dr. Dr Abdul Hadd Lahweej , said the holy month of Ramadan is in its final days, which compels Muslims to double their efforts in doing good deeds.
He applauded AAYC for the Iftar dinner, saying that the Muslim community feels appreciated, recognized, and respected.
