AFRO-ARAB YOUTH COUNCIL COMMEMORATES THE AFRICAN DAY

The Afro-Arab youth council will this year join the rest of the world to commemorate the African day which will happen on the 25th of May 2023 at Kololo Independence grounds.

This 60th anniversary is being celebrated under the slogan: “Our Africa Our Future” using the hashtag #OurAfricaOurFuture.

The Guest of honor will be His Excellency, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who will be accompanied by African ambassadors, afro Arab youth president, Dr. Abdulhadi Lahweej, Secretary General Dr.Abbas Agaba, assistant Secretary General Mrs. Amina Helmi, government officials, Youths  among others.

The Afro-Arab Youth Council, being aware that this day not only represents an opportunity to celebrate the diversity and richness of Africa and its peoples, but also to reflect on the challenges and opportunities facing development in Africa and pave the way for the future towards a better and more united Africa. Africa Day is a day for all Africans around the world to celebrate their culture, heritage and contributions to the world, as well as highlight efforts to promote development, unity and progress in Africa.

In this context, the Afro-Arab Youth Council chose the slogan “Africa is our common home and our bright future “ Which he hopes will be embodied in a real strategic partnership based on strengthening;

  • Economic cooperation between African countries, by strengthening common markets and investing in African infrastructure, increase the trading between African countries, and developing national industries.
  • Solidarity and cooperation in the fields of security and defence, through the exchange of experiences, information, training, strengthening the security and defense capabilities of African countries.
  • Cultural and educational cooperation between African countries, through the exchange of experiences, information, training, promoting education and culture in African countries among others.

The celebration activities of International Day of Africa 2023 will include the following:

  • Panel Discussions/Dialogue: Organizing an African-African dialogue on topics related to development and challenges in Africa, such as education, health, good governance and infrastructure.
  • Public lectures dealing with the history, culture and development of Africa.
  • Simulation of the African Union Summit by participation of young people and students as representing member states for discussion and dialogue about The challenges facing the countries of the African continent and proposing solutions and alternatives that would strengthen the African partnership and establish Peace and stability in the countries of the continent.
  • A cultural festival that includes art, music and dance performances that reflect the diversity of the cultures of the African continent.
