Afro-Arab Youth Council attends Makerere Youth and innovation week.

Makerere University and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on October 6th 2023 launched the Youth and Innovation Expo 2023 through which the youth showcased their outstanding innovations and enterprises.

Speaking to the press during the innovation week, Miss Halima from the Afro-Arab Youth Council, says youths need to join organizations to get enough exposure and get enough funding so as their skills are pushed for greater highest.

Under the AAYC initiative, Brian Mugisa a student from Makerere University and an innovator from Calcut App which has since been used by over 5000 students to calculate entry points at university level. He adds that while joining campus they did not have access/ formular of adding up the cut off points which pushed him to come up with this Application.

Thomas Tayebwa, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament has asked students in higher institutions of learning to prioritize innovations that will facilitate the creation of jobs

Tayebwa was on Friday speaking at the two-day Youth and Innovation Expo 2023, under the theme “Fostering Innovation for Uganda’s Transformational Development” hosted at Makerere University where he was the chief guest.

Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Professor Barnabas Nawangwe said that Makerere resolved to empower research and innovation to help students create jobs of their own and subsequently help in fighting unemployment.
