The attack on Lhubiriha Secondary School in Kasese District, Uganda, resulting in the killing of 25 students and the abduction of an unidentified number, is a tragic and reprehensible act. The Afro-Arab Youth Council (AAYC) strongly condemns this attack and calls for the immediate release and safe return of the abducted learners.
The AAYC Secretary General, Hon Abbas Agaba, expressed deep sadness and extended sincere condolences to the families and friends of the deceased students. The council stands in solidarity with the students, teaching staff, school authorities, and the people of Uganda during this difficult time.
President Yoweri Museveni said the army would track down “these evil people and they will pay for what they have done.
In light of this incident, the AAYC emphasizes the importance of respecting schools and ensuring that every child has the right to learn in a safe and protected environment. We appeal to all those involved in the attack to recognize the significance of education and the well-being of children.
The AAYC’s statement reflects their commitment to promoting Youth, Peace, Unity and Development.
It is the height of insensitivity, cruelty and sacrilegious exhibition of inhumanity to visit such degrees of terror upon innocent secondary school students. It is most unfortunate,we appeal to security agents to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book and prevent such reoccurrence. We stand with the students, school authority, the family and friends of the deceased students and the government of Uganda on this issues. We demands the unconditional release of the abducted students.
