On Friday, May 24, 2024, at Ship House in Abuja, the Honourable Minister of Defence, H.E. Muhammed Badaru Abubakar CON held a significant meeting with the Secretary General of the Afro Arab Youth Council (AAYC) and team. This meeting displayed the shared commitment to fostering peace, unity, and development among the youth in the African and Arab regions.
The Secretary General took the opportunity to highlight the pivotal role that the AAYC plays in promoting peace, unity, and development across the regions. He expressed his gratitude to the Minister for his unwavering support towards youth development initiatives in Nigeria. The Secretary General’s remarks underscored the Council’s dedication to fostering a harmonious and progressive environment for young people.
He further informed the Minister of the necessity for a partnership between the Ministry of Defence and AAYC West African Regional Coordinators Office. He highlighted the potential for collaborative efforts in areas of peace and security among young people, leveraging corporate social responsibility initiatives to achieve these goals. This partnership, he noted, would significantly contribute to the stability and growth of the youth in the region.
In his address, the Minister pledged continued support for the AAYC, particularly for the regional coordinators office recently launched in Nigeria. He expressed his gratitude to the Council for selecting Nigeria as the location for this important office, acknowledging the strategic role it will play in coordinating regional efforts for youth development. The Minister further commended AAYC for its unwavering dedication to its mission and encouraged the council to remain patient, steadfast, and focused in actualizing their aims. He emphasized the critical importance of perseverance in the face of challenges, reinforcing the belief that the goals of peace and unity are achievable through sustained effort and commitment.
